I am now offering my plush boa scarves in the Maidens of Virtue Shoppe as custom made – you pick the color. I had been selling these before but with a few set colors from which to choose. But I decided that it would serve my customers better if they could request the color they wanted, and then I could give them some specific yarn colors that match their request.
All the scarves will come in a homespun style yarn (an example is on the site). I will, however, try to accommodate requests for other types of yarn, such as chenille, bulky, feathery, or cotton, etc. (Depending on what type of yarn, this may necessitate a price change – therefore, default yarn is the homespun, and if you want a different yarn, make a note of it in the note section when ordering).
What do you think? I would appreciate any comments on whether you think this is a positive or negative change.

I think that is a great idea, the only thing would be to make sure you can provide the colours that someone would request. The more choices you have, the more there is for you to worry about, but I think it would be nice.

Yes, that is a point… I didn’t mention in the post (but did on the website) that customers should give me two color choices, in case one might not be available.
The way I had it before (set colors) it is almost more of a hassle, because then I HAVE to get those specific colors/textures and I am stuck if the store is out of it. This way I have a little more flexibility.

To answer your question: You mean in the “way to participate”? I mean if you entering an item you’d like to win you can announce that item on your blogs. I also had said to announce the entire thing to help kick it off so others will come see and check out the actual giveaways. : )
