I am pleased to announce the second Maidens of Virtue Essay Contest!
After our successful contest last year, we decided on another essay contest for this year's writing contest. We do apologize for the lateness in getting this started; life has gotten in the way! We hope many of you will enter and also be sure to check out our new Photography Contest too!
All right, on to details!
This contest is open to all girls ages 9 to 25. Like last year, we have two age categories but both will write on the same topic, with different word limits.
~ Topic ~
Modesty
What is modesty? What does the Bible have to say about it? How can we show modesty in our dress and actions? Can we wear pretty, feminine clothes and still be modest? Write an essay that touches on different aspects of modesty (doesn't necessarily need to be the ones we mentioned). Happy writing!
~ Young ladies ages 9-13 ~
Word Limit: 350 to 800 words
~ Young ladies ages 14-25 ~
Word Limit: 500 to 1,200
One Grand Prize and (depending on how many entries we receive) several runners up will be awarded in each category. The prize page is now up! Click here to check out the growing list of prizes! If you have a business that carries products you believe would bless young ladies, and you would be interested in contributing to our prize, please drop me an email!
You are welcome to enter as many essays as you like; however, you may only be awarded one prize (i.e. you would not be able to win the grand prize AND place as a runner up - multiple entries would simply give you an extra chance at winning).
Entries must be received by June 30, 2010. Entries received after this date will be disregarded. Entries will only be accepted electronically this year (if for some reason you need to submit by mail, please drop us an email and we can accommodate you). Entries must be submitted via our online entry form. All fields must be complete and you must have permission from your parents to enter if you are under 18. If submitting multiple entries, please submit each separately.
You will be notified by email when we receive your entry.
Entrants retain all rights to their work and are free to use or publish them elsewhere if they desire.
Grand Prize winners will be contacted on or before July 10, 2010. Winners and runners up will be announced on MaidensOfVirtue.com and on The Girlhood Gazette blog, on July 10, 2010.
