I am pleased to announce the 2nd annual Maidens of Virtue Poetry Contest!
This contest is open to all girls ages 9 to 20. There are two categories:
~ Young ladies ages 9-12
Subject: Having Joy in Your Heart
Write a poem about the ways girls can keep a joyful heart as they serve their families, such as reading your Bible, trusting the Lord, etc.
~ Young ladies ages 13-25
Subject: A Sister's Role in her Sibling's Life
Write a poem describing how a sister can encourage, influence, and generally help her sibling(s). You are welcome to write about just brothers or sisters, or both.
Note: If you are an only child, you may write your poem in the context of your friends or as if you did have siblings.
One Grand Prize and two honorable mentions will be awarded in each category. Click here for the contest Prize Page.
All entries will also be considered for publication on Roses and Teacups' Virtual Rose Garden unless specified otherwise. If you do not wish your poem to be submitted to Roses and Teacups please make a note of it when submitting your entry.
Poems must be received or postmarked by May 20th, 2008. Entries received after this date will be disregarded. Entries may be submitted electronically or by mail. Send entries to:

All entries must include entrant's name, age, mailing address, telephone number, email address, and title of the poem.* All entries must be the original work of the entrant. Entrants under the age of eighteen must have the permission of their parent(s) or guardian to enter the contest.
Grand Prize winners will be contacted on or before May 31st, 2008. Winners and honorable mentions will be announced on MaidensOfVirtue.com and on The Girlhood Gazette blog, on May 31st, 2008.
